Research themes
Reproducibility with AI. How can new AI technologies make analyses in ecology and evolution easier to run, check, and repeat, especially in phylogenetic comparative biology?
Extinction selectivity and risk. Which traits, such as body mass, and which human pressures explain who went extinct in the past, who is at risk now, and which species will persist?
Evolutionary inference. What information is needed for ancestral state reconstruction, and when can statistical learning or graph neural networks recover evolutionary patterns reliably?
Current work includes terror-bird body-mass estimation, extinction risk in Northern Andean birds, and the Ofey desk companion concept, alongside the software projects below.
